Diving into the world of 3D using Blender. A study on the basics of animation, modelling and lighting
As a developing artist, something that always stood out to me was 3D designs. I was afraid to approach it due to how much time it would consume, but I decided it was time to take that next step forward and try it out.
I was not necessarily new to Blender but this was my first proper dive into 3D. I wanted to try out a different approach though I realised it may have been a mistake. (explained later on)
The first tutorials I followed gave me a great understanding of how to visualise in 3D space. I learnt to navigate Blender and its various workspaces as well as modelling, texturing and animation.

Blender 3D: Your First 3D Character
What I learned:
The most iconic Blender series. You're probably thinking, why I didn't try this first? I'll be honest, It seemed a bit boring at the time and I wanted to approach learning Blender a bit differently which was.. A Big Mistake (in my opinion)
What I learned:
The journey was incredible. I was directed to make a donut while also learning the fundamentals and capabilities of each tool. I was learning new things by the minute. The tutor was entertaining and quirky, which was helpful given the length of the series.
My personal favourite. The power behind geometry nodes excites me for the future, as it's so versatile. These tutorials encouraged users to mess around. It was interesting to me because the concept was abstract and playful. Which left me intrigued to learn more.

I have a strong passion for 3D and especially animation although I found modelling and rigging to be my weakest areas as it wasn't something I particularly enjoyed. I love to bring art to life through animation and learning 3D opened up new possibilities. Setting up scenes, Lighting, Composition, Visual Effects, and Animation are what I most enjoy and will be investing more time in.
Here are some final artworks to conclude this study.
